The Imbanaco Clinic in Cali confirmed this Wednesday, at the stroke of midnight, the death of Freddy Rincón after the traffic accident he suffered last Monday in the Valle del Cauca capital.
In his sixth report, the doctor Laureano Quintero announced the news that mourns Colombian soccer. Accompanied by two of the former soccer player’s children, he reported that “despite all the efforts of our work teams, Freddy Eusebio Rincón Valencia has passed away.”
He was hospitalized since Monday when he was admitted to the emergency room due to the collision between the truck in which he was traveling and a bus from the Mio system. From the beginning, his state of health was critical and his evolution unfavorable.
Rincón played for Independiente Santa Fe, América, Palmeiras, Real Madrid, Napoli, Corinthians and Santos, among other clubs.
With the Colombian National Team he played three consecutive World Cups and scored the equalizer against Germany in 1990. He wore the tricolor jersey in 84 games from his debut in 1988 until his retirement in 2001.
