M6.2 quake off eastern Japan
A 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck off eastern Japan early Thursday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
The agency said the quake occurred around 4:47 a.m. local time off the coast with its epicenter at a depth of 30 kilometers (18 miles) and was felt in neighboring cities.
The agency warned quakes of similar intensity may follow over the next week in areas that experienced strong swaying.
No tsunami warning was issued.
