Chelsea beat Liverpool on Sunday’s showdown which was a make or break game for the West Londoners with both Manchester United and Chelsea, facing teams who have nothing to play for in the premiership.

Chelsea managed to score their first goal against Liverpool in just the 33rd minute with a blunder by Steven Gerrard, out of all people which left Drogba one-on-one with Pepe Reina and easily knocked the ball by the Liverpool goal keeper.

To be fair to Drogba, he showed a predators instinct and new Gerrard was going to pass back, a characteristic that all great strikers have, which has been the pivotal reason behind Chelsea’s 95 goals scored in the league this season.

Chelsea scored their second of the game on the 54th minute when Frank Lampard netted the ball from a Nicolas Anelka cross which seemingly ended any chance by the reds.

However it should be noted that Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina was the main reason behind Chelsea only scoring two goals and was influential for Liverpool saving clear cut chances by Chelsea.

It was not much of a surprise to see Chelsea beat Liverpool at Anfield to be honest. Liverpool had come from a huge 120 minute Europa League game on Thursday against Atletico Madrid which they lost in the last few minutes.

Not only were the Liverpool players tired by they were also low in moral. Being knocked out of all competitions this season and needing a miracle to qualify for the premiership, the players were just not up for it.

I can’t really say all Liverpool fans were upset by the loss against Chelsea, many Liverpool fans I spoke to were hoping Chelsea won as they did not want Manchester United to pass the 18 premiership title wins which both North England clubs hold.

Chelsea will just need a win against Wigan, a final three points which they have done 26 times so far to be crowned the premiership winners for the first time since the 2005-2006 season when, one Jose Mourinho AKA Special One was at the club.
