Not a taken new contract offer from Chelsea Frank Lampard, looking for strong midfielder Manchester United’s new target.
Former Chelsea coach Ray Wilkins is urging Manchester United to sign midfielder Frank Lampard when the transfer window for the Premier League reopens in January.
It is understood that Chelsea have told Lampard he is free to find a new club in the January as he would not be offered a new contract at the end of the season.
Sir Alex Ferguson has made it public that there will be no Man Utd transfer in January, but Wilkins has a message for the Scot.
“He’ll cost nothing, he’s about four years younger than Giggs and Scholes and he scores goals from midfield,” Ray Wilkins said.
Lampard netted both goals for Chelsea in the 2-1 victory over Everton on Sunday, but the Blues, according to reports have no interest in signing him to a new contract.
“This is the club’s decision to let him go – it’s nothing to do with Rafa Benitez – and in my opinion it’s the wrong decision.
“You need these older players to show the youngsters what it means to play for Chelsea.”
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will offer midfielder Frank Lampard, 34, and left-back Ashley Cole, 32, the chance to move to Old Trafford when their contracts are not renewed by Chelsea at the end of the season.
