The Confederation of African Football CAF has shortlisted 3 players for the African prestigious award, the African player of the year.
Cairo/NationalTurk- The Ivorian pair of Yaya Toure and Didier Drogba and Cameroon’s Alex Song are the finalists for the African Player of the Year award.
The Confederation of African Football player of the year is being sponsored by African telecommunication giant Global Communication popularly known as Glo.
Yaya Toure is the current reigning African player of the year and is a credit for him again to have made the final list again to be staged at the same venue he won the award last year.
He beat Malian midfielder Seydou Keita and Ghanaian winger Andre Ayew to clinch the prestigious award which many believed it was a true reflection of the award.
The event will be held at the state house in the Ghanaian capital Accra on December 20th with many dignitaries in the football fraternity in attendance.
Toure won the English Premier League title with Manchester City and reached the final of the 2012 African Cup of Nations last year but lost to Zambia.
Drogba won the Champions League with Chelsea and was also part of the Ivory Coast team that won every game at the African Cup until falling to Zambia on penalties in the final in Gabon.
Song was one of Arsenal’s standout players last season before moving to join Barcelona in the Spanish La Liga.

Didier Drogba has everything it takes to win it, but i’m not happy about how d treated mikel obi. He performed more than song afterall he contributed immensely in all d trophy won last season at chelsea. So i don’t think it a right selection. Ok maybe is because of hayautu our longest serving caf president that don’t want to go out. D want to repeat what d did to our jay jay okocha d best entertaining midfieder in the world that didn’t win anything personally.
