Match fixing is the curse of football everywhere on the globe. Football players are arrested in a recent Italian football match-fixing investigation scandal.
Rome / NationalTurk – Italian football is getting stained again by match fixing scandal, as former Atalanta captain Cristiano Doni and 16 other people have reportedly been detained in Italy in an ongoing match-fixing investigation and illegal betting on football matches in Italian football leagues.
The ANSA news agency and the Gazzetta dello Sport report that the inquiry is focused on several matches in Italy’s second tier Serie B over the past two seasons – with three of the matches including Atalanta.

Three top tier Serie A matches from last season are also reportedly under investigation, two of which involve Brescia, against Bari and Lecce, and the match between Napoli and Sampdoria. Bari and Sampdoria are relegated from Seria A to Serie B at the end of the 2011 season.
Other players arrested reportedly include former Inter Milan and Roma player Luigi Sartor, former Serie B player Alessandro Zamperini and active players Carlo Gervasoni of Piacenza and Filippo Carobbio of Spezia.
