Uruguay: Construction Workers Go on Strike
The National Union of Construction and Allied Trades’ Workers (SUNCA) will go on strike on Monday after the death of a 25-year-old worker, who fell from a seventh floor due to lack of security measures, the local press reported.
SUNCA´s action will begin at 9:00 hours and will end at 13:00 hours (local time).
So far in 2011, nearly nine people have died in the construction sector and the strike will include several demonstrations in the capital demanding a new regulation on this matter, according to reliable sources.
On Thursday, SUNCA held a demonstration in a zone near the Legislative Palace, seat of the Parliament, demanding better working conditions.
