US President Barack Obama via Twitter has blamed the Congress for the possibility of the country reaching a situation of debt default.

During a question and answer session at the White House with users of the Twitter micro-blogging platform, the US president stated “the notion that the U.S. is going to default on its debt is just irresponsible.”

US President Obama has scheduled a meeting with Republican and Democratic leaders of Congress on Thursday to discuss the need to reach an agreement to raise the debt limit and reduce the deficit before August 2.

Barack Obama also answered questions via Twitter on various issues including immigration and the housing market, among others. Obama aims for $4 trillion in budget savings.
