Six people travelling in a bus were killed when the vehicle caught fire in Southern Indian state of Karnataka on Wednesday.
New Delhi, April 16/Nationalturk – In a tragic accident, six people travelling in a bus were killed when the vehicle caught fire in Southern Indian state of Karnataka on Wednesday.
Police officials said sleeper AC bus travelling, which was travelling from Davangere to Bangalore in Southern Indian city of Karnataka, caught fire early this morning.
“29 people were travelling in the bus when the vehicle caught fire. Six people died and 12 others were injured in the accident,” they said.
A senior police officer said driver of the vehicle had noticed a small flame at the back side of the bus. “The bus continued to travel and hit the sidewall of the highway due to which bus caught fire”.
He said the injured have been hospitalised.
The official said police is investigating the exact cause of the fire.
According to official statistics, over 110,000 people are killed every year in road accidents in India. The accidents are caused due to reckless driving, bad condition of roads and poorly maintained vehicles.
