400 PKK militants arrested in Syria simultaneous raids
According to Syrian authorities, over 400 suspected PKK militants have been arrested in five cities in Syria.
The raids in hundreds of addresses in the cities of Halab, Damascus, Raqqa, Hassake and Kamishli took place in simultaneous time.
Syria and Turkish relations had been improved in recent months after relations between Turkey and Israel had deteriorated due to the Flotilla raid by the Israeli Defense Forces which led to the death of nine Turkish demonstrators.
Syria announced that they have widened their operations on the Kurdish separatist group PKK and have the government owned land of those who help members of the terrorist group confiscated.
The arrested suspected militants will be detained under “being members of a terror organization, forcefully collecting money, attempting to divide Syrian land in efforts to form a separate state, inciting ethnic and religious separation among Kurds” charges.
Operations towards families and individuals who use land given by the Syrian government as a harbor for PKK militants have also been underway Hassake and is being planned to be widened to other areas.
Just last week, 11 PKK terrorists were killed in gun battles with the Syrian Armed Forces in many cities in the country.
Meanwhile, Turkish authorities have announced that four Turks have been killed in the district of Pervari, in Siirt, Eastern Turkey by PKK militants.
One of the dead is said to be a Turkish soldier while the other three are said to be village guards.
