Video News – Medical sources in Spain have said that a teenager has been killed after being gored in the chest during a bull run.

A 19-year-old teenager has died after being gored in the chest by a half ton bull in the early morning hours of Friday.

The incident occurred in Fuentesauco in the province of Zamora, Sothern Spain close to the Portuguese border after the huge half ton bulls were released at 3 am.

A source at the hospital where the 19-year-old was taken to said that the young man from Madrid was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived at the emergency service department.

Several more bullruns were organized throughout the day on Friday and the weekend but were all cancelled due to the tragedy. The events were all part of a local festival.

The bull runs were criticized in Spain by many authorities as the powerful animals were released in the early morning hours when it was still dark causing more danger to the dozens and in some cases hundreds of runners in front of the bulls.

Bullfighting and bull running is very famous in Spain and is seen as a cultural event in the European country.

The annual bull running festival, San Fermin festival , the most famous in Spain will take place in the town of Pamplona on Tuesday.

Bull running is when a crowd of people run ahead of dozens of full grown bulls through the streets of Spain which leads to the areas bullring where bullfights are organized.

Meanwhile, activists and animal welfare groups stages an intriguing protest in Pamplona on Sunday.

Activists belonging to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), an animal right organization along with AnimaNaturalis, which is another animal rights group were seen sitting on the floor wearing black short and bodies painted red or black.

The dozens of activists made the shape of a bull with their bodies with the red colored activists making the back of the bull appearing to show the bull to be bleeding.

No incidents were reported by security services by the Spanish police.
